Meet The Team

Kirsten Brown, PT, DPT

Owner, Physical Therapist, Birth Doula

Dr. Kirsten, or “Dr. K,” received her doctoral degree in 2012 during a 6 year undergraduate/graduate program at Northeastern University located in Boston, MA. She began her career in Boston and worked for about 1 year before she had the common sense to move to San Diego in 2013, and she has never looked back.

Dr. K’s passion for the human body and its function began with her experience as a personal trainer. She has had the opportunity to work with clients of all ages and with all athletic abilities. Her training focused on plyometrics, Olympic lifting, and speed and strength conditioning. She has worked as a sports orthopedic physical therapist for 10+ years and continues to utilize some of these practices with her current patient caseload.

In 2019, Dr. K began to expand her knowledge and skill set in pelvic health. Dr. K recognizes the importance of rehab for birthing persons during pregnancy and postpartum, and she is a major advocate for the long-term health of both parent and baby. Her ultimate goal is to address the need for pelvic health education – there are trained professionals out there who CAN HELP with some of those “hard to talk about” pelvic-related symptoms and diagnoses.

Dr. K has completed numerous Pelvic Health courses through the Herman and Wallace Pelvic Rehabilitation Institute including Pelvic Floor levels 1, 2a and 2b. She has also successfully completed “Thriving Mama Training” a 3 month pre-, peri- and post-partum program under the mentorship of Dr. Marcy Crouch, PT, DPT, WCS. Kirsten is also certified in the use of Graston Technique® soft tissue mobilization which has resulted in remarkable results with her patients. She has proven to be an excellent manual therapist utilizing techniques such as pin and stretch, active muscle pumping, muscle energy, joint mobilizations and myofascial release. She also has extensive experience with myofascial decompression cupping techniques.
